Introduction

Well, here it is. My new blog. I’m still figuring out how WordPress works, so don’t be surprised if you find random changes to the site on a daily basis. I never know when to leave well enough alone. Lol.

I guess I should begin with who I am: My name is Travis. I’m 21 years old. I work at a movie theatre as a projectionist, Tyler Durdin style. My interests are primarily comics and movies, but I’m into just about anything considered “geeky”. I draw, I write. I used to act in high school. I guess I was pretty good, but I haven’t done it since graduating. Wouldn’t mind doing it again, though. I’m an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church. I’ve performed one wedding. (Well, sort of. Long story.) My political views skew a bit far to the left, but I hate all politicians. My religious beliefs would fall mostly into what most would consider Protestant, but I don’t believe in organized religion. (Yes, I am a priest who doesn’t believe in organized religion.) I’m single, straight. (But a proud supporter of Gay Rights.) Actually, to quote Alan Cummings, “Some of ‘em are gay, some of ‘em are straight, and some of them don’t get laid at all.” I fall into that third category. It’s actually been about three years, I guess, since my last relationship.

What else?

Marvel or DC: I like all comics, but ultimately, I have to go with DC.

Favorite Superhero: My favorite hero is Green Arrow; my favorite team is the Teen Titans.

Favorite Movie: The Silence of the Lambs

Favorite Book: Fight Club

Favorite Band: Rammstein

Favorite Song: “Don’t Fear the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult

Favorite Color: Green

Pepsi vs. Coke: Pepsi

The title for my blog came from two sources, both of them superhero related. “Here I Come To Save The Day”, of course, comes from the Mighty Mouse theme song. (Probably best know from the Andy Kaufman routine). I was originally going to go with “It’s Not Easy…”, referencing the song “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” by Five For Fighting, but I decided that, as a blog title, it sounded “too Emo” and I hate Emo Kids. The bit about “It’s like Shakespeare … but with lots more punching!” comes from the Next Wave theme song. (The only theme song I’ve ever seen written for a comic book and not a TV show. It’s a very weird song, much like the book that inspired it. Check it out if you get the chance.)

Well, I think that’s it for now. I’m working on another post about the deadliest creature on the planet: the dreaded Manatee. I’ll be posting that as soon as I’m done writing it. I’m also almost done building two lightsabers and I’ll be posting pictures of them when I do. And I buy comics on Thursdays, so I know I’ll have something to talk about then. So, until next time: I’m more then a bird. I’m more then a plain. I’m more then some … pretty face beside a train. And it’s not easy … to be … me.
