I have absolutely nothing to say, but I feel like posting something.
I’ve been in a bit of a funk this weekend. At first, I thought it might just be the rain, but I honestly like rain. I think cloudy, drizzly days are cool. I think my current mood has more to do with the fact that I know that I’m going to have to put up with my jerk boss for the next four days. Man, I hope I’m able to avoid him for the most part. Some days, I hang out downstairs and only run the movies that need to be run. With Bobby there, though, I don’t think I’ll be doing that. It means a little more work for me in the short run, but it will save me a whole lot of aggravation. I just hope he doesn’t force me to come down stairs.
But what else is there to say?
OSU’s first game was today and they won pretty big. I’m not the biggest football fan in the world, but I make an exception for OSU games. As cynical and jaded as I am, I guess I can’t help but have a little home town pride in my blood.
I’m working on two blasters right now. One is a modified mix of the PM-20 and the PM-30 and is nearing completion. (Pic 1, Pic 2 – Sorry for the crappy, web cam quality!) The holes are filled, it’s all sanded, and reading for more primer and then paint. I ran into a small predicament yesterday with I almost got the trigger stuck, but I was able to work it out fine. On the upswing, the thing feels solid and it weighs a ton. (Which I was going for.) Speaking of the trigger, though, I did make one slightly disappointing decision yesterday. I had put a little bit of detail into it (green flaked paint) back when I had the gun apart. Due to the stuck trigger issue I had, though, a lot of the primer and paint has been scraped off, exposing the orange underneath. So, with the next coat of primer I do, I will be spraying the trigger again, as well. It’s okay, though. I figure I’ll go in afterwards and paint the trigger green again. (This time, I think I’m going to paint it solid green – as opposed to the flaked method – and then add silver wear to it matching the rest of the gun, if even that.)
The second blaster is an original. (Pic 1, Pic 2) (At least, I haven’t seen anyone modify this particular gun.) I’ve dubbed it the “RAM 101”, AKA: “The Ramrod”. Originally, I envisioned it being a type of plasma cannon, acting similar to the BFG in the “Doom” movie. Then Jon suggested I try a gatling gun design and I’ve since been enveloped by the idea. I have it envisioned in my mind and I’m really psyched to do it. I have some extra PVC pipe lying around and I picked up a wooden dowel rod today to act as the center piece. I just need to cut all the peaces to length (I’m more or less planning on doubling the gun’s current size) and then design the round spacers. I’m hoping to get my dad to cut out the spacers. He just has more access to better material and tools then I do. Plus he’s about a million time more skilled then I am at that stuff.
I haven’t really done any costuming stuff lately. I’d really like to get to work on my Jedi costume as it’s become my planned Halloween costume. I should really get to work on my Doc Ock costume, as well, if I hope to have it done in time for Mid Ohio Con this November. Thankfully, I was just paid last Friday, so I should be able to work a little bit more.
