September = Crappy Month For Movies

September is just about the slowest month for movies of the entire year. NOTHING is coming out, so it’s made life down at the theatre very boring. Last week, all we got was “The Covenant”  and this week, we’re getting “Everybody’s Hero”, “Gridiron Gang”, and “How To Eat Fried Worms”, which, yes, has been out for a few weeks now in other theatres. Our GM was fighting hard to get “Material Girls” but we didn’t get it. That is fine by me, of course. But I’m just saying that it’s very sad when you find yourself begging for a Hilary Duff movie because you know that it can’t do any worse then what you already have.

Still, there are a few rays of sunshine at the end of the month and next moth looks like it’ll be okay. Let’s just hope we can stay in business long enough to get to next month.

Captain America

I guess the date (or, more likely, the constant news coverage.) was on my mind today when I decided to do this drawing. I was basically just sitting there when I got the sudden urge to draw Captain America. Of course, I’d say it’s as much a tribute to how boring my days can be as much as anything else. I believe I did the majority of this piece, if not all of it, all in one set. That’s how busy we were today.

I only finished the pencils today, but I hope to do the inks soon.

5 Years Later…

I really don’t need to say what day today was. I’m not really going to get into it because I know my views on the subject can be somewhat controversial and potentially offensive to some. All I’ll say is that, in my opinion, it’s pointless to treat today any different then any other day. It’s no more of a tragedy 1826 days latter then it was 1825 days later or will be 1827 days later. It’s kind of like the people who only go to church on Christmas and Easter and act holier-then-thou about it. 9/11 is the same. We should remember the sacrifices made every day but we can not allow it to run our lives. By allowing it to affect the way we live or think, those responsible win. The terrorist’s goal was to disrupt our way of life, and the idea of “Post-9/11 thinking” is just that.

But I’ve already said too much. God bless those who died that day and all those who have died since.
